I am a plant ecologist with broad interests in ecological community dynamics. Currently I am investigating climate change impacts on tidal wetlands and their links to pelagic food webs in the San Francisco Bay-Delta. I am also a specialist in chaparral and fire ecology. I am an author of the treatment for Arctostaphylos in the new Flora of North America and Jepson Manual, 2nd Ed. Because I'm interested in dynamics, I tend to focus on seed banks, dispersal, mycorrhizal facilitation, or processes that influence composition, productivity and survival.
