I am a member of the faculty in the Department of Kinesiology at Sonoma State University. My expertise is Exercise Physiology, especially as related to thermoregulation and endocrine responses to exercise and environmental stress.
My teaching focuses on exercise physiology, sports nutrition, exercise prescription, and health and wellness for kinesiology majors. My research with SSU undergraduates and graduates involves the effects of exercise and diet interventions on diabetes, metabolic syndrome, and obesity; caffeine metabolism and exercise; and effects of training and diet intervention on athletic performance. I'm also interested in improving quality of life for older adults through physical activity and functional mobility.
