Oakland-based artist Jann Nunn creates sculpture, installation and large-scale outdoor works using a wide variety of materials and ranging in scale from minute to monumental. Nunn’s well-researched projects are often site-related or situation-responsive.
True to her conviction that concepts are succinctly articulated when reinforced by appropriately selected materials and their manipulation, Nunn's work resides in the conjoining of idea and aesthetic. Every aspect and implication of material usage is carefully considered and specifically relates to the work's content and its presentation.
Jann Nunn studied art at University of Alaska Anchorage, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, and San Francisco Art Institute. She has exhibited, lectured, held residencies and is represented in collections internationally since 1987 . She currently holds the rank of Professor of Sculpture at Sonoma State University.
